This program offers financial assistance to organizations that provide supervision services to students with disabilities aged 12 to 21 outside of school hours during the school year as well as during the summer period.

Presentation and purpose

Supervision services are intended for students with disabilities aged 12 to 21 who are unable to stay home alone outside of school hours. 

The purpose of this program is to offer students with disabilities safe supervision services that meet their needs and interests. It is also intended to provide the parents of children with disabilities with conditions conducive to holding employment or pursuing their studies by helping them strike a balance between family, work and school.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this program, a supervision service must meet the following conditions:

  • be a non-profit organization, an educational institution, a school service centre or school board, a municipality, a regional county municipality or an Indigenous organization
  • have the equivalent of at least four full-time students registered for its services
  • have at least two resource persons be present to ensure supervision whenever two or more students are present
  • offer activities that are adapted to the students’ needs and interests and that take place in a safe and accessible environment

Respite services for parents are not eligible for this program.

Volet Période estivale (summer period component)

To be eligible for this component, the supervision service must be offered every weekday during the summer period, that is, from the end of June to the end of August.

Volet Période scolaire (school period component)

To be eligible for this component, the supervision service must be offered every weekday, in the morning, in the evening or both (not including lunchtime), and on pedagogical days. The service must also be offered outside of the school hours stipulated by the Basic school regulation for preschool, elementary and secondary education This hyperlink will open in a new window. during the period covered by the school calendar.

Eligible expenses

This program covers part of the necessary expenses directly associated with the supervision services offered, in particular:

  • salary
  • purchase of materials and supplies
  • day-to-day operations, such as phone or electricity bills

The amount of financial assistance is determined on a yearly basis in accordance with the total enrolment for the period targeted by the claim, and ranges from $14 100 to $52 700.

All claims must be submitted no later than April 15 of each year.
