Amount of Loan
Awarded loan amounts are calculated as follows:
Educational expenses
Educational expenses vary by level of education. They are calculated by multiplying the number of credits or course hours by a fixed amount that encompasses all expenses in this category (tuition, educational supplies and related costs, including admission and enrollment fees).
- University: $134.01 per unit (credit)
- Public sector college: $3.49 per course hour
- Private sector college: $11.69 per course hour
- Secondary school vocational training: $2.34 per course hour
Childcare expenses
Childcare expenses are recognized for each dependent child under the age of 12 and each child between 12 and 17 years of age with a major functional disability (handicap leading to significant persistent limitations in accomplishing daily activities) or a mental disorder. An amount of $609 per term is recognized for childcare expenses for each dependent child.
Transportation expenses
Transportation expenses are recognized for student beneficiaries of the Loans Program for Part-Time Studies who attend a regional educational institution.
An amount of $400 per term is awarded to take account of the additional transportation expenses incurred by a student enrolled in an institution located in one of the following cities, regions or regional county municipalities (RCM):
- Bas-Saint-Laurent
- Gaspésie–Îles-de-la-Madeleine
- Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean
- Côte-Nord
- Nord-du-Québec
- Abitibi-Témiscamingue
- Pontiac RCM
- La Vallée-de-la-Gatineau RCM
- Antoine-Labelle RCM
- La Tuque
