The Government of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the University of Luxembourg offers five scholarships to Québec university students. The scholarships can take the form of the following:

Eligibility

To be eligible, you must meet the following criteria:

Type of support

Each scholarship includes a monthly allowance of €1 000 (euros) for a master’s‑level program.

If the person’s stay begins or ends during the course of a month, the amount of the allowance shall be established in proportion to the number of weeks spent in Luxembourg.

The maximum waiting period before the first payment is two months from the date the scholarship recipient arrived in Luxembourg.

The scholarship is awarded for a maximum of two consecutive years at the master’s level.

Application procedure

Your application package must contain one copy of the following documents, in the following order:

  • A letter of intent outlining and justifying your study plan
  • A certified copy of your post-secondary diplomas
  • Your résumé
  • Your confirmation of admission to the University of Luxembourg or proof that you have been admitted to the institution. Official confirmation of admission is required for the complete analysis of the file and for the payment of the scholarship.
  • A photocopy of your act of birth certified by a Commissioner for Oaths; if you were not born in Canada, you must provide a proof of Canadian citizenship or permanent residence and proof of your status as a Québec resident as defined in the Regulation respecting the definition of resident in Québec
  • The formulaire de confirmation (confirmation form) (PDF 220 Kb).
  • A recent passport-size photograph
  • Two confidential letters of recommendation, typed on the official letterhead of the educational institution from which they originate and signed in ink; both letters must be sent by the individuals who signed themor by the educational institution directly to the Ministère de l’Enseignement supérieur
  • Official transcripts of your university studies

You must gather your application documents into a single, compressed, encrypted and password-protected folder. Then send it to the Ministère de l’Enseignement supérieur at the following email address:

bge@mes.gouv.qc.ca

You must provide the Ministère with your password separately. This can be done using an email other than the one containing the encrypted folder.

Admission to the University of Luxembourg

Important: Given that proof of admission to the University of Luxembourg must be provided, applicants must first follow the process to apply for admission to the University of Luxembourg. As part of this process, the candidates are asked to indicate their intention to submit an application for the scholarship program of the Government of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

Selection process

An evaluation committee examines the applications in accordance with the following criteria:

  • previous educational experience
  • relevance of the study plan or research project (expected impacts on the host and home communities, and for the applicant’s personal journey)
  • motivation (e.g. interest in discovering the culture and learning the language of the host country)
  • careful presentation of the application

The government offering the scholarships makes the final selection.
