Information and Communication Technology Requalification and Training Program (PRATIC)
The Information and Communication Technology Requalification and Training Program (PRATIC), launched on July 1, 2021, seeks to encourage people who are unemployed to pursue a career in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Thanks to PRATIC, these people will be able to benefit from training while receiving financial assistance.
Eligibility
You could be eligible for PRATIC if:
- You are unemployed.
- You were not enrolled in full-time studies during the 12 months prior to your application.
To find out if PRATIC is for you, contact the Services Québec office nearest you and ask to meet an employment assistance officer. The officer will determine with you if PRATIC corresponds to your needs. If so, they will guide you towards a training that will allow you to access an ITC trade with good job prospects in your region. Otherwise, the agent will guide you towards other programs that are better suited to your needs.
The training, which can be offered online, must:
- Be full-time and included in the list of eligible training courses (French only)
- Allow you to gain the necessary skills to be employed in ICT
- Lead to an attestation of collegial studies, or the possibility of following a customized training leading to a specific job, or the possibility of enrolling in a university-level certificate or microprogram
You will also need to meet all the conditions for admission established by the institution offering the training.
If you have started or are about to start a training course under the Renewed Prosperity Through Greater Training Program (PARAF) and that this training is covered by PRATIC, an employment assistance officer will contact you. Whatever your situation, the amount of your employment assistance benefit could be modified for the duration of your training.
Financial assistance
PRATIC will allow you to receive an employment assistance benefit of 650$ per week while you are following an eligible short-term, full-time training course. This training must allow you to qualify for employment in ICT.
You will receive benefits for the duration of the training.
Once you have successfully completed your training, you will also receive a lump sum of $1,950 to support your professional integration.
Submit an application
An employment assistance officer will evaluate your situation and needs. If you are eligible, they will walk you through the application process. Otherwise, they will direct you to another program more suited to your needs.
If you’d like to get an assistance interview and find out if you’re eligible to PRATIC, you can fill out an Employment Assistance Services application online.
Help qualifying for employment
In addition to the various assistance programs implemented by the governments of Québec and Canada to support citizens during the COVID-19 pandemic, many services are available to help you develop your skills. Check the Employment Assistance page for more details.
An online questionnaire will help you find the program or service that best suits your situation. After answering a dozen questions, you’ll have access to a list of resources that can help you improve your access to the labour market.
