If you’re a member of a First Nation or the Inuit and need help to enter the labour market, you might be interested in taking part in the First Nations and Inuit Employment Integration Program (PAIPNI).

Your new employer could receive a subsidy to cover a portion of your wages and certain additional expenses related to hiring you, such as the salary of a support person, training costs or the cost of certain integration measures.

Eligibility criteria

You could be eligible for the PAIPNI, if

  • You are a member of the Abenaki, Algonquin, Attikamek, Cree, Huron-Wendat, Innu (Montagnais), Malecite, Micmac, Mohawk or Naskapi nations or the Inuit and you provide a valid Certificate of Indian Status or an Inuit Beneficiary Card
  • You have no significant work experience
  • You are having difficulty entering the labour market and are at risk of long-term unemployment. 

How to apply

Go to your local employment centre (CLE) or Services Québec office and meet with an agent who will assess your needs and make sure that this program is the best solution for you. You can then look for a job on your own or ask the agent to help you. 

Once you’ve found a job with an eligible employer, an agent will make all the necessary arrangements with the employer.

Support may be provided for as long as you participate in the program to help you settle into and keep your new job.
