Job description

These individuals control and verify products to ensure that they conform to production, storage, and transportation standards. This group also includes Supervisors of Agricultural and Fish Product Inspectors. They work in government agencies and organizations as well as food processing companies.

Main tasks

Fish and Fish Products Inspectors

  • Inspect fish and fish products.
  • Control fish handling and processing methods.
  • Draft reports.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations.

Fruit and Vegetables Inspectors

  • Inspect fruit and vegetables in quality control centres.
  • Draft reports on agricultural production and market conditions.

Grain Inspectors

  • Inspect and classify grain in transit elevators.
  • Monitor fumigation of infested grain.
  • Examine warehouses as well as handling and transportation equipment.
  • Monitor the implementation of routine sanitation practices.

Meat Inspectors

  • Control the activities and sanitary conditions of slaughterhouses and meat processing plants.
  • Inspect carcasses to ensure compliance with standards.

Plant Protection Inspectors

  • Approve seed crops.
  • Monitor the quarantine, treatment, destruction, and fumigation of plants and plant products.

Advancement and mobility

  • Experience leads to management positions.
