Main tasks
Small Electrical Appliance Repairers
- Determine the cause of the failure of small electrical appliances (lawnmowers, power tools, etc.).
- Carry out voltage and resistance tests.
- Replace or repair defective parts.
- Prepare estimates and reports of repairs performed.
Large Appliance Repairers
- Disassemble, repair, adjust, reprogram, and reassemble domestic or commercial electrical or gas appliances (stoves, refrigerators, washers, etc.).
- Check various devices to determine the cause of the malfunction.
- Study product and appliance schematics and manuals.
- Prepare estimates and reports on repairs performed.
- Prepare maintenance schedules, as required.
Advancement and mobility
- Qualified Appliance Service Technicians receive a Red Seal endorsement upon successful completion of the Interprovincial Examination.
- Experience leads to supervisory positions.
