Job description
These individuals cut fabric, skins, and leather. They make clothing, shoes, and fur and leather goods from them. They work for:
- Textile and clothing plants

Main tasks
Fabric Cutters
- Arrange patterns on layers of fabric and cut them according to the indicated patterns.
- Adjust cutting techniques to the type of fabric and style of the garment.
- Cut fabric samples, as required.
- Cut in a way that avoids waste.
Fur Cutters
- Cut skins into diagonal strips of determined length and shape.
- Number the skins to indicate their place on the patterns.
- Select, match, and prepare fur samples as required.
- Cut in a way that avoids waste.
Leather Cutters
- Select leather and patterns for leather products, according to requirements.
- Arrange the leather to cut a maximum number of pieces.
- Stretch leather.
- Cut leather for making items designed with this material.
- Cut leather samples, as required.
- Cut in a way that avoids waste.
