Job description

Faculty Administrators manage the administrative activities of post-secondary institutions. Registrars handle registrations and student records at the college and university levels. Individuals in this group are employed by:

  • Schools and vocational training institutions
  • Technical institutes
  • Business schools

Environment

  • Controlled ambient temperature

Main tasks

Faculty Administrators

  • Recommend and approve the appointment of professors.
  • Approve class schedules.
  • Conduct research activities.
  • Participate in curriculum development and suggest additions and revisions.
  • Manage budgets.
  • Advise university and college presidents and rectors.
  • Participate in the activities of faculties and departments.

Registrars

  • Analyze registration statistics.
  • Consult with faculty heads to develop admissions policies.
  • Direct and supervise the activities of staff responsible for compiling information and granting degrees.

Administrators of other types of vocational training schools

  • Develop curricula.
  • Ensure that programs meet provincial standards.
  • Manage budgets.
  • Recruit faculty/staff.
  • Teach

Advancement and mobility

  • Experience leads to senior management positions in education.
