Job description

Building Operations Managers organize, run, and evaluate building operations. They are employed in commercial, transportation, and recreational establishments.

Building Maintenance Managers organize, run, and evaluate building maintenance. They work for:

  • Commercial, service, or recreational establishments
  • Factories
  • Airports and ports
  • Port warehouses and silos
  • Universities and schools
  • Maintenance or mechanical engineering services
  • Manufacturing companies

Main tasks

Building Operations Managers

  • Coordinate administrative services (signage, cleaning, maintenance, parking, security, snow removal, etc.).
  • Supervise the installation, maintenance, and repair of building infrastructures (machinery, equipment, electrical and mechanical systems, etc.).
  • Hire, train, and supervise staff.
  • Establish and manage facility operating budgets.
  • Ensure that occupational health and safety standards are respected and enforced.
  • Manage activities related to construction and renovation projects.
  • Supervise the rental of premises.
  • Establish marketing strategies.

Building Maintenance Managers

  • Coordinate various projects:
    • Maintenance and repair of machinery, equipment, as well as electrical and mechanical systems
    • Cleaning
    • Snow removal
    • Landscaping
  • Develop work schedules and procedures.
  • Carry out supply contracts for goods and services.
  • Plan and manage facility maintenance budgets.
  • Hire, train, and supervise staff.
