Job description
Court Reporters record and transcribe proceedings for various judicial actors (judges, courts, etc.).
Medical Transcriptionists record, transcribe, and edit dictated data (surgical procedures, health-related reports, etc.).

Main tasks
Court Reporters
- Record verbatim the proceedings of courts, legislatures, committees, etc.
- Reread the transcript of the evidence presented when court is in session.
- Transcribe the recorded deliberations according to the established format.
- Verify the accuracy of transcripts, judgments, and citations.
- Provide transcripts to judges, lawyers, and others who request them.
- File and arrange the stenographic records of court proceedings.
Medical Transcriptionists
- Transcribe recorded or written data (medical reports, correspondence, health records, etc.) according to established formats.
- Correct typographical and grammatical errors.
- Ensure that transcribed texts are free of incorrect or missing information or formatting errors.
Advancement and mobility
- There is some mobility between court reporters and legal secretaries.
- There is some mobility between medical transcriptionists and medical secretaries.
