Job description
Receptionists greet people and direct them to the appropriate person or service. They answer the phone, direct calls, take messages, and make appointments. This group includes telephone operators, hospital receptionists, etc.

Main tasks
- Provide general information in person or by telephone.
- Provide security checks at reception and maintain access lists, as required.
- Greet customers and direct them to appropriate services.
- Make appointments.
- Accept and record payments and provide receipts.
- Arrange teleconferences, provide telephone relay service for persons with disabilities, and record call charges, as required.
- Answer the phone, filter and route calls, and take messages.
- Record reservations for groups.
- Respond to emergencies.
- Perform office duties as required.
