- Develop new applications for industrial chemicals.
- Conduct research to discover new products.
- Expand knowledge of the properties of chemical compounds and chemical reactions.
- Study the chemistry of drug action and the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
- Supervise other chemists, chemical technologists, and technicians.
