Job description
These individuals design landscaping projects and oversee their construction. These projects include commercial, office buildings, parks, golf courses, and residential projects. Landscape Architects are self-employed or work for:
- Architect, engineer, or consultant firms
- Environmental organizations
- The public service
- Landscaping companies

Main tasks
- Determine the clientele’s landscaping needs.
- Design plans taking into consideration the characteristics of the land (landscape, buildings, climate, and use).
- Prepare or supervise the execution of detailed sketches, specifications, plans, and models.
- Evaluate costs and review project bids.
- Carry out environmental assessments.
- Ensure the conservation and reconstruction of historical sites.
- Study the physical planning of communities and neighbourhoods.
- Participate in urban planning studies and draft design guidelines.
- Direct and supervise the construction of landscaping projects.
