Job description

These individuals provide technical support and services in various fields (geology, mining, metallurgy, etc.). They work for:

  • Oil and mining companies
  • Consulting and engineering firms
  • The public service
  • Educational institutions
  • Manufacturing and construction companies
  • Public utilities

Environment

  • Controlled ambient temperature

Main tasks

  • Conduct geological, geophysical, geochemical, hydrographic, or oceanographic surveys.
  • Examine underground mines (prospecting rounds, exploration drilling, etc.).
  • Develop notes, sketches, geological maps, and cross-sections.
  • Participate in the evaluation and analysis of oil and mineral reserves.
  • Prepare rock, mineral, or metal samples and determine, in collaboration with geologists, the best methods of analysis.
  • Carry out chemical and physical tests in the laboratory.
  • Implement measures to protect the environment.
  • Monitor operations in oil or gas wells.
  • Study and implement mine development, extraction methods, and mine drainage.
  • Perform summary verification of the quality of analytical results.
