Job description

These individuals provide support and services to develop production methods, facilities and systems. They contribute to the planning, evaluation and organization of work. They work for:

  • Manufacturing companies
  • Insurance companies
  • The public service

Environment

  • Controlled ambient temperature
  • Equipment, machinery, tools

Main tasks

  • Develop and direct production, inventory, and quality assurance programs.
  • Design the layout of plants and production facilities.
  • Develop and conduct workplace studies.
  • Design and implement industrial health, safety, and fire prevention programs.
  • Collaborate in the preparation of assessments, specifications, and reports.
  • Develop manufacturing and processing methods.
  • Develop applications to control computer-operated machines and robots.
  • Set up machine and equipment controls, monitor production, and verify processes.

Advancement and mobility

  • There is some mobility between these positions and positions in related fields (e.g. technical sales).
  • Experience gives access to management positions.
  • These individuals may specialize in various applications (production processes, quality assurance, etc.) and industrial fields (metals, plastics, textiles, etc.).
