Job description

These individuals teach techniques and develop skills in their students according to their specialization. This group includes college and vocational teachers, as well as department heads. These individuals work for:

  • Cegeps and colleges
  • Technical institutes
  • Vocational training centres
  • Language schools
  • Businesses

Environment

  • Controlled ambient temperature

Main tasks

  • Facilitate lectures, demonstrations, panel discussions, and laboratory work.
  • Prepare curriculum, lesson plans, and teaching materials.
  • Develop, deliver, and mark exams and assignments.
  • Inform students about study programs and careers in their field of specialization.
  • Provide individualized instruction to students who need it.
  • Supervise individual or group projects, training internships, and on-the-job training.
  • Supervise teaching assistants, as required.
  • Provide consulting services to government agencies or businesses, as required.
  • Participate on committees regarding budgets, program revisions, and course requirements, as required.
  • Prepare and deliver courses within the limits of authorized programs.

Advancement and mobility

  • Experience leads to administrative, managerial, or pedagogical advisor positions.
