Job description

These individuals provide consulting services and conduct research. They develop programs and policies as well as monitor and manage activities. Their work involves recreation, fitness, and sports. They are self-employed or work for:

  • The government
  • Sports, recreation, and fitness centres
  • Health facilities
  • Retirement homes
  • Community centres
  • Consulting firms and organizations

Main tasks

Sports, Recreation, and Fitness Policy Analysts

  • Conduct research and develop policies related to sports, recreation, and fitness as well as sports safety standards.

Sports Program Consultants

  • Provide advice and consultation to organizations (e.g. sports associations) on sports programs and activities.

Fitness Program Consultants

  • Provide advice and consultation to organizations (e.g. schools) on fitness programs and activities.
  • Draft proposals and press releases as required.

Recreation Program Consultants

  • Provide advice and consultation to organizations (e.g. commercial enterprises) on recreation programs and activities.

Supervisors of Sports, Recreation, and Fitness Programs

  • Develop, plan, and coordinate sports, recreation, and fitness programs and events.
