Job description

These individuals provide support to students, teachers, and counsellors. They assist them in carrying out their teaching and other non-teaching duties.

Environment

  • Controlled ambient temperature
  • Climatic conditions

Main tasks

  • Help students integrate into the classroom and school environment.
  • Help students complete their assignments by reinforcing the concepts of learning and retention.
  • Help students with special needs by using a variety of techniques (sign language, Braille, remediation, etc.).
  • Monitor student progress and report back to the teacher.
  • Accompany and supervise students in various locations (gym, library, field trips, etc.).
  • Assist teachers with the operation of projectors, VCRs, and audiovisual or electronic equipment as required.
  • Assist other school staff as needed.
  • Supervise students during recess, lunch hour, and throughout the day.

Advancement and mobility

  • Experience leads to positions in child care and adolescent intervention.
