Job description

These individuals provide court orders and documents. They seize or repossess property and evict tenants. They work in:

  • Business, trade, and real estate
  • Municipal, provincial, and federal governments
  • Financial institutions
  • Companies in the legal sector

Environment

  • Controlled ambient temperature
  • Vehicle or passenger compartment

Main tasks

  • Serve various documents (declarations, subpoenas, orders, etc.) and warrants (imprisonment, arrest, etc.).
  • Locate and seize property, sell it, and distribute the proceeds according to court judgments.
  • Make official statements concerning locations, situations, or events at the request of the court.
  • Make official statements of facts concerning the condition of certain properties.
  • Collect debts amicably.
  • Obtain voluntary payment remittance agreements.
  • Interview liable persons or other individuals who may be able to provide useful information.

Advancement and mobility

  • Experience and training lead to supervisory positions.
