Job description

These individuals enforce provincial laws and municipal bylaws, such as those relating to:

  • Animal monitoring
  • Commercial transport
  • Garbage collection
  • Liquor licence
  • Parking
  • Taxi
  • Zoning

Environment

  • Controlled ambient temperature
  • Climatic conditions
  • Vehicle or passenger compartment
  • Hazardous chemical
  • Biological agents

Main tasks

Animal Control Officers

  • Respond to complaints about stray pets and livestock or wild animals on the loose.
  • Issue warnings and fines to owners.
  • Impound stray and dangerous animals.

By-law Enforcement Officers

  • Enforce municipal and provincial regulations.
  • Investigate complaints.
  • Issue warnings and fines to offenders.

Commercial Transportation Inspectors

  • Check commercial vehicles to ensure compliance with regulations.

Garbage Collection Inspectors

  • Investigate complaints of violations of the garbage collection bylaw.

Liquor Licence Inspectors

  • Inspect licenced establishments.
  • Inform permit holders of laws and regulations.

Parking Enforcement Officers
