Job description
These individuals list terms and define them. They also search for their equivalents in another language. They ensure standardization, particularly of publications. They are self-employed or work for:
- Internal translation and interpretation firms or services
- The public service
- Large companies

Environment

Main tasks
- Define terms in use for companies and organizations.
- Establish terminology specific to a sphere of activity.
- Establish and maintain databases, glossaries, dictionaries and lexicons.
- Manage, update and disseminate the language information collected.
- Play a consulting role in project management in his or her field of activity.
- Collaborate with writers, researchers and specialists.
- Ensure, as required, the quality control of texts.
- Know and master the documentary resources.
- Provide consulting services to translators, interpreters and technical writers.
