Job description

These individuals perform to entertain their audience or present creations. They are self-employed or work for:

  • Circuses
  • Theatre companies
  • Advertising companies
  • Production companies

Environment

  • Controlled ambient temperature
  • Climatic conditions
  • Hazardous workplaces

Main tasks

Public Entertainers

  • Perform short shows in front of passers-by in streets and parks.
  • Rehearse acts.
  • Maintain equipment, as required.

Circus Performers (including trapeze artists, tightrope walkers, clowns, and jugglers)

  • Perform humorous plays and acrobatics.
  • Rehearse acts.
  • Train to keep in excellent shape.

Magicians and Illusionists

  • Perform magic, vanishing, and illusion tricks.
  • Rehearse acts.
  • Maintain equipment, as required.

Puppeteers

  • Animate marionettes and string puppets.
  • Rehearse acts.
