Job description

These individuals build, install, and repair structures made of various materials (wood, steel, etc.).

Environment

  • Controlled ambient temperature

  • Noise

Main tasks

  • Study plans to determine the technical specifications of the structures to be built and calculate the necessary materials.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable building codes.
  • Erect foundations.
  • Install floor beams and lay flooring support.
  • Erect pre-assembled framing and roofing components.
  • Adjust and install carpentry elements (doors, stairs, etc.).
  • Maintain and renovate wooden buildings.
  • Supervise personnel.
  • Produce evaluative estimates, as required.

Advancement and mobility

  • Qualified Carpenters obtain a Red Seal endorsement upon successful completion of the Interprovincial Examination.
  • Experience leads to supervisory positions.

The hourly wage is calculated by averaging wages from 2020 to 2022.
