Job description

These individuals install and repair industrial machinery. They also work on mechanical equipment and textile manufacturing machinery.

Main tasks

  • Read blueprints, diagrams, and schemas.
  • Install stationary industrial machinery or mechanical equipment (pumps, fans, tanks, etc.).
  • Set up machines and parts.
  • Install and maintain power transmission systems and programmable controllers.
  • Assemble and adjust machinery and equipment.
  • Inspect machinery, repair faults, and replace defective parts.
  • Manufacture the parts necessary for machine maintenance.
  • Clean, lubricate, and perform routine maintenance of machinery.
  • Direct personnel.

Advancement and mobility

Construction Millwrights and Industrial Mechanics * These individuals may specialize in piping, welding, machining, or electrical maintenance.

  • Qualified Construction Millwrights and Industrial Mechanics obtain a Red Seal endorsement upon successful completion of the Interprovincial Examination.
  • Experience leads to supervisory positions.

The hourly wage is calculated by averaging wages from 2019 to 2021.
