Job description

These individuals check, grade, and sort raw materials and products in food processing. They ensure compliance with the current standards. They work in:

  • Fruit, vegetable, fish, and meat processing plants
  • Dairy manufacturers
  • Mills
  • Bakeries and Pastry Shops
  • Breweries
  • Sugar refineries

Environment

  • Controlled ambient temperature
  • Odours
  • Noise

Main tasks

  • Sample and test products at various stages of processing.
  • Sort, grade, and inspect raw materials or finished products.
  • Weigh products.
  • Ensure that products conform to company standards.
  • Ensure that health and safety practices are followed according to policies and regulations.
  • Notify supervisors of any deficiencies in raw materials or finished products.

Advancement and mobility

  • Experience leads to supervisory positions.
