Job description

These individuals assemble and manufacture electronic equipment, parts, and components. They inspect them to ensure compliance with established standards. They work in electronic equipment manufacturing shops.

Main tasks

Electronic Equipment Assemblers

  • Solder, assemble, and clean microcircuits and various electronic components on circuits.
  • Install, assemble, secure, align, and adjust components, wiring, and clamps.
  • Replace defective parts.
  • Repair and refurbish older devices.

Electronics Assemblers

  • Set up, operate, and monitor machines that fabricate, solder, clean, seal, and mark electronic components.

Electronics Inspectors

  • Inspect electronic components and sets to verify various elements (choice and location of components, quality of wiring and soldering, continuity of circuits, etc.).
  • Check final assembly for finish, labelling, and packaging methods.
  • Check product dimensions and perform electrical tests.
  • Locate and mark defective sets and return them to production for repair.
  • Collect, record, and summarize inspection results.
  • Investigate the cause of problems and provide information on the proper way components work.

Electronic Equipment Testers

  • Make simple tests to check the electrical properties and continuity of electronic circuits.
  • Locate faults in circuit, wiring, and parts.
  • Set aside parts or products that need to be repaired or replaced.
  • Carry out, as required, life tests (trial period).
  • Draft reports on test results.

Advancement and mobility

  • Experience and additional training lead to senior positions.

The hourly wage is calculated by averaging wages from 2019 to 2021.
