Job description

These individuals apply various coatings (paint, enamel, lacquer, etc.) to the surface of products. They work in the industrial sector.

Main tasks

Painters and Coaters - Industrial Sector

  • Select the appropriate paint or paint mixture for the job to be done.
  • Prepare the objects to be painted or covered, remove rust, and fill hollows.
  • Use hand guns to paint objects attached to or moving on a conveyor.
  • Paint small objects and touch up with a brush.
  • Clean and maintain equipment.
  • Prepare and apply stencils and tracings on finished products.

Metal Finishing Control Station Operators - Industrial Sector

  • Prepare and mix metallizing solutions.
  • Clean, degrease, pickle, and etch metallic and non-metallic surfaces.
  • Monitor and operate plating (which coat metal) and spraying (which fortify worn or damaged parts) equipment.
  • Check the thickness of the veneer.
  • Polish the metal surfaces of the products.
  • Harden metal coatings.

Advancement and mobility

  • Experience leads to supervisory positions.
