Probationary period

A probationary period is a period of teaching practice during which the professional competencies of an applicant for a teaching diploma can be evaluated.

A probationary period consists of a maximum of 900 hours, but may be reduced to 600 hours if the applicant has achieved the established objectives. Probationary periods must take place in a recognized educational institution.

The employer evaluates the candidate and issues an attestation of success or a notice of failure.

A probationary period only needs to be completed if it is a condition stated on the probationary teaching permit.
