Objective of the Programme qualification des jeunes

The PQJ aims to increase the chances that youth gradually integrate into a socially fulfilling life project and make a smooth transition to adulthood.

Its objective is to:

  • empower youth and their families in their steps toward independence;
  • encourage community involvement;
  • mobilize the resources available to support the needs of youth.

Description of the Programme qualification des jeunes

The PQJ includes three main learning components:

  1. Preparation for adulthood teaches youth to meet their daily responsibilities and provides them with:
    • Residential and security stability (search for, pay for, maintain housing)
    • Personal finance management
    • Social skills development
    • Management of personal care, health, and so on.
  2. Qualification allows the youth to gain the knowledge, expertise and interpersonal skills needed for them to integrate at work or training, go back to school or continue their studies.
  3. The development of a social network and support network allows the youth to create a net of safety and mutual aid, and refer to community resources, among others, in response to their needs.
