If the deceased was receiving benefits as compensation for injuries sustained as the result of an industrial accident or occupational disease, you must notify the CNESST of the date of death.
If the deceased was receiving benefits as compensation for injuries sustained as the result of a criminal act or an act of good citizenship, you must contact the Direction générale de l’indemnisation des victimes d’actes criminels (IVAC).
Épargne Placements Québec
Transfer of Épargne Placements Québec savings and retirement products
If the deceased held savings and retirement products offered by Épargne Placements Québec, the liquidator of the succession must communicate their instructions concerning the investments held and send certain documents to Épargne Placements Québec.
Ministère de l’Emploi et de la Solidarité sociale (MESS)
For the following programs:
- Social Assistance
- Social Solidarity
- Aim for Employment
If the deceased was receiving last-resort financial assistance or participating in the Aim for Employment Program, the liquidator of the succession must give notification of the date of death by contacting the Services Québec office that the deceased dealt with. Depending on the circumstances, the financial assistance benefits paid will either be terminated or continue being paid.
Retraite Québec
For the following programs and services:
- Family Allowance
- Québec Pension Plan
- Public-sector pension plans
- Pension from a foreign country
You must notify Retraite Québec of the date of death of a person who was receiving any of these benefits or pensions so that the deceased’s file can be updated.
Revenu Québec
For the following tax credits:
- Shelter allowance
- Tax credit for childcare expenses
- Tax credit for home-support services for seniors
- Solidarity tax credit, Work premium and adapted work premium
You must notify Revenu Québec as soon as possible of the date of death of a person who had received any of these tax credits to avoid having to refund any overpayments.
