The Temporary Aid for Workers Program (PATT) was launched on March 16, 2020. This program aimed at offering financial aid to workers isolating to counter the spread of COVID-19 and who consequently couldn’t earn the full amount of their work income. These workers had to be ineligible to other financial aid programs.

End of the Program

As of April 10, 2020, it is no longer possible to obtain financial aid from the Temporary Aid for Workers Program (PATT). The end of this program follows the launch of the Canadian Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) by the Federal Government on April 6, 2020. This program gave workers who could benefit from the PATT the possibility of obtaining financial assistance.

Important Information Relative to Reporting Income

Sums received from the Temporary Aid for Workers Program (PATT) must only be declared at the federal level. If you benefited from this program, you will receive a T4A slip with an amount appearing in box 200. You must include this amount in your Canada tax return for the 2020 tax year. To find out where to report this amount, you can see the explanations on the back of the slip.

If you reimbursed sums received from the PATT in 2020, the amount shown on the slip will take these sums into account.

You received a T4A slip and you didn’t receive any financial aid

If you have received a T4A slip on which an amount appears in box 200 and that you didn’t receive financial aid from the PATT, it is possible that you were a victim of identity theft.

Here is what you should do:

  • File a complaint with your municipal police service and note the event number you are given
  • Collect all your account statements for the period of March 16 to August 31, 2020
  • Write a declaration in which you indicate that you did not receive financial assistance and where you:
    • Provide a full account of the facts
    • Describe the steps taken to declare identity theft (complaint to the police service and declaration to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Center, if applicable)
    • Supply the name of the person who allegedly committed the identity theft and their connection to you, if you think you know the identity of that person

You must then make an application to have the T4A slip cancelled This hyperlink will open in a new window., using the form provided for this purpose. You must also supply a document featuring the event number, copies of your account statements and your declaration. You can send the documents electronically, via the document transmission service. You can also send them by fax to 418-698-3603 or mail them to the following address:

To make a reimbursement, you must:

  • Fill and sign the Voluntary Reimbursement – Temporary Aid for Workers Program (PDF 688 Kb) form
  • Write a cheque to the order of the Ministre des Finances and write your Social Insurance Number (SIN) and the mention “PATT reimbursement” on the line where it is possible to add details about the payment (the one next to the word “for”)
