Gender-based analysis (GBA) is an analytical process that supports the adoption of more inclusive government initiatives. GBA aims to achieve equality in fact between women and men.
Applying GBA helps identify gender-specific needs and issues and provides a perspective that is different from the statistical average of the population. GBA can be integrated into any project as early as the planning stage to reach more targeted solutions.

How it works
GBA is a process that plays a relevant role in every stage of a project’s management cycle, from planning and evaluation to implementation and monitoring. GBA can be applied to all types of projects, whether they are of a political, strategic, legal, or regulatory nature, and can be integrated into action plans, measures, programs, and public services. Similarly, GBA applies to all areas of governmental activity (economy, transport, environment, culture, etc.).
Support and guidance
Ministries and agencies may receive support to help them integrate and adapt GBA to their needs. This ensures a better understanding of the equality issues that are inherent to every project and contributes to Québec’s progress in advancing equality in fact.
