Provide citizens with clear, precise and accessible information on the services to which they are entitled. This is the priority of the Secrétariat à la communication gouvernementale and why it sees to it that the government’s many different communication activities are consistent.

Through the mandates assigned to it, the Secrétariat analyzes government departments’ communication projects and coordinates their efforts. It ensures that they pool their resources in order to maximize public investments in communications. It fosters the sharing of good practices.

The Secrétariat also organizes summits, extensive forums and large-scale public consultations. It coordinates activities that require the joint participation of numbers of departments and agencies.

In terms of the Ministère du Conseil exécutif, the Secrétariat advises the Office of the Premier and the various secretariats on government communications. Its feedback service conducts media monitoring and analysis. The Secrétariat is also in charge of the Department’s language policy.

Owing to the reconfiguration of government communications that began in the spring of 2006 with a view to better coordination of the activities in this area, the 22 communications directorates of 22 government departments were consolidated within the Ministère du Conseil exécutif and are now the responsibility of the Secrétariat à la communication gouvernementale.
