Missions abroad

In the exercise of their duties, members of the Government of Québec travel abroad to establish economic, political, institutional and cultural ties with foreign governments and to participate in regional and international intergovernmental conferences. Depending on the goals, they may also be accompanied by representatives of companies, organizations or institutions.

Through its Missions Bureau, Le Protocole therefore helps organize:

  • missions headed by the premier;
  • missions headed by the minister of International Relations and La Francophonie;
  • missions headed by members of Cabinet.

The level of responsibility and involvement of the Missions Bureau of Le Protocole varies depending on the type of mission and the mandate given to it by government authorities. In general, for missions headed by the premier, it is the Missions Bureau of Le Protocole that is in charge of coordination, in close collaboration with the Office of the Premier.
