Private gatherings are authorized during the holiday seasons if Québec’s epidemiological situation holds steady. This scenario could be revised if, in the coming weeks, the number of cases rises significantly.

Private gatherings

To limit COVID-19’s spread, Quebecers must adhere to certain measures in December and January. A holiday season calendar (PDF 116 Kb) is available that indicates the periods concerned.

From December 1 to 16, 2020

The measures for the alert level in your region apply. To find out the alert level for your region, please consult the Map of COVID-19 alert levels by region.

From December 17 to 23, 2020

Voluntary confinement applies. During voluntary self-isolation, regardless of the alert level in your region, it is recommended that you:

  • do telework if your job allows it;
  • avoid contact with people who do not live in the same household as you;
  • limit yourself to essential travel and shopping.

For example, you can go out for a walk or to do an outdoor activity provided you only do so with the people who live with you and you are not in contact with other people.

From December 24 to December 27, 2020

Participation in private gatherings is allowed:

  • It is recommended that gatherings be limited to two during this period.
  • Gatherings must be limited to not more than 10 people.
