What to do if you need to self-isolate

Self-isolating means staying at home

  • Don’t go to school, work, the CPE, daycare, a public place, a business or on public transit.
  • Don’t go for a walk. You can go out on your balcony or in your private backyard.
  • Don’t allow any visitors into your home.
  • If you don’t have help with your groceries or medication, you can use grocery or pharmacy home delivery services. Keep a distance of at least two metres from the delivery person.
  • If you live with other people who do not have COVID-19, avoid contact with them.
  • If you think you might need to see a health professional, see Dois-je consulter si j’ai la COVID-19? (PDF 195 Kb) (in French only).

If you need someone to help you with your daily activities

If you need help with your daily activities (for example, help with eating, going to the toilet, getting around the house, etc.), ideally, it would always be the same person helping you. This person should be aged 70 or younger, in good health and not have a chronic illness, such as a heart or respiratory disease, renal failure, diabetes, severe obesity (BMI > 40), a compromised immune system or be undergoing cancer treatment. Ideally, this person should also be adequately protected.

When another person is in the same room as you and less than 2 metres away, you must wear a mask or face covering that covers the nose and the mouth.
