Employers must consult and follow standard isolation measures after exposure to or infection with COVID-19.

Protocol and measures in place

The return-to-work protocol applies to workers recognized as providing an essential service and unable to fulfill their duties remotely where a service interruption would have a significant impact on public health and safety.

Isolated asymptomatic workers exposed to a confirmed COVID-19 case

Step 1Priority measures to prevent service disruption

5-day isolation period

Days 6 to 10 after exposure:

  • Negative rapid test required on day 6
  • Strict self-isolation at work
  • Separate break room for exposed workers
Step 2Priority measures to implement in the event of service interruptions

3-day isolation period

Days 4 to 10 after exposure:

  • Negative rapid tests required on days 4, 5 and 6
  • Strict self-isolation at work
  • Separate break room for exposed workers

Workers having tested positive for COVID-19

Step 3Special measures to implement in the event of service interruptions

Minimum 5-day isolation period for asymptomatic workers

Days 6 to 10 after testing positive:

  • Strict self-isolation at work
  • Separate break room for workers who tested positive
