Consultation on the modification of laws affecting health and social services information
Consultation on the modification of laws affecting health and social services information
The consultation ended on August 15, 2021.
For residents to receive the care and services they need, it is often necessary that various stakeholders and professionals have access to their health and social services information. However, the current context in Québec does not always allow easy and efficient access to this information. To improve the care and services offered, the laws governing this information must thus be modified.
The Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux (MSSS) therefore suggests that the legal framework be reviewed in order to make it more coherent, integrated, and modern. This process is primarily intended to facilitate access and establish a safe, confidential, and fluid flow of information. The new legal framework will be developed to serve primarily the interest of residents. It is set to apply to all health and social service information, whether its holder operates in the public or private sector.
The MSSS is seeking to better understand residents’ opinion on the main principles guiding the drafting of the upcoming bill. To this end, a short questionnaire was available from July 12 to August 15, 2021.
