Program for radical suburethral sling removal surgery services provided outside Québec

Under the program for radical suburethral sling removal surgery services provided outside Québec, a portion of the cost of the surgery is reimbursed.

The aim of the program is to provide financial support to women who had complications following the placement of their suburethral sling and who had to pay for a surgical procedure to have their sling removed outside Québec.

All women insured by the Québec public health insurance plan who underwent suburethral sling removal surgery between October 1, 2018 and December 31, 2020 in a hospital centre located outside Québec are eligible for the program. Due to the current context of the COVID-19 health crisis, women who had to use this service outside Québec in January and February 2021 may also be reimbursed.

Women who would like to undergo removal surgery must consult their family physician to find out what to do.

The program provides $22,500 in financial assistance to cover the medical and hospital services required for the surgery. The RAMQ manages the program for the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux (MSSS).
