Determining who you can sponsor
You may sponsor a dependent child not accompanied by an adult. This may be:
- Your biological child;
- Your child adopted by full adoption;
- Full adoption severs the parental relationship between the child and the family of origin. It creates a new relationship with the adoptive parent.
If your child is under 22 years old, this child may not be married or have a de facto spouse.
If your child is age 22 or over, this child must fulfill these two conditions:
- Be unable to support yourself due to your physical or mental condition;
- Depend on one parent for most of their financial support, without interruption, since reaching the age of 22.

Family members who may accompany your dependent child
Your dependent child may be accompanied by:
- A biological child or children;
- The dependent child of his or her dependent child.
These persons must meet the same conditions as your dependent child, as indicated above.
You must include the family members who accompany the sponsored person in your undertaking application.
