Public Notice intended for citizens of the province of Québec who were married between 1926 and 1996 about information contained in marriage forms from 1926 to 1996
Following the order provided for in the decision of the Commission d’accès à l’information of March 14, 2018, CAI 111494, take notice that:
if you were married in the province of Québec, between 1926 and 1996, personal information contained in your marriage form is currently distributed, communicated and made accessible without legal authorization by the Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ) as well as two companies of genealogy following an authorization from the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux.
Commission d’accès à l’information
This information includes:
- the religion of the spouses;
- their mother tongue;
- their number of years of schooling and whether they can read or write;
- their employer;
- their citizenship;
- their racial origin;
- the address of the witnesses to the marriage.
Any person concerned by this personal information may have it removed from the files distributed by genealogical societies and by the BAnQ, within one year from the date of publication of this public notice, until February 5, 2023, by contacting:
