QUÉBEC, June 9, 2021 /CNW Telbec/ - You are invited to view an age-old culture and discover one of the foremost Inuit sculptors of his generation.
The Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec (MNBAQ) is celebrating Manasie Akpaliapik, an artist from the especially fertile environment of Baffin Island in Nunavut, by devoting the first museum monograph to him.
In perfect symbiosis with nature, the artist has for more than five decades sought in his ancestral environment the inspiration and the materials that draw from his imaginative universe unique, astonishing, indeed very profound works. In a staging that is evocative of the northern territories, the outstanding series of works assembled, mainly drawn from the Raymond Brousseau Collection, proposes 40 sculptures and objects not previously exhibited.
Fall under the charm of the works of this accomplished sculptor, who multiplies symbols based on the mythology of the North and multifaceted use of the elements selected.
