Retention of personal information and privacy protection

Under the offer of carrier screening tests, personal information will be collected about you, including your test results. All this information will be kept confidential in your medical record, at the Centre intégré universitaire de santé et de services sociaux du Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean. The information concerning you will be kept in accordance with the legal requirements that the health institution is bound to comply with.

The sample of cells swabbed from the inside of your cheek will be kept at the laboratory for 5 years. It may be used only:

• to perform new tests that may be offered to you in the future
• for the purposes of laboratory evaluation or quality assurance.

If you would like your sample to be kept for more than 5 years, you can indicate this on your consent form
