Financial assistance for transportation to an institution in the health and social services network
Financial assistance for transportation to an institution in the health and social services network
The cost of transportation to an institution in the health and social services network is the responsibility of the person being transported, unless he or she is eligible for a government financial assistance program.
Financial assistance is available for people who:
need to move within the same institution
must transfer to another institution
are over 65 years of age
are receiving end-of-life care
are geographically distant by more than 200 km from the institution where they are transported
are receiving oncological treatments
are waiting for a transplant or undergoing post-transplant follow-up
are from an indigenous community
These people can receive financial assistance when they need to be transported to or within:
a local community services centre
a hospital centre
a residential and long-term care centre
a child and youth protection centre
a rehabilitation centre
The amount and terms of financial assistance depend on the local policies of Québec's regions. Each Integrated Health and Social Services Centre (CISSS) and Integrated University Health and Social Services Centre (CIUSSS) has established its own policy on user travel.
