Provide students with non-judgmental support or refer them to the appropriate school or community resources should they feel the need or if signs of problems appear.
Ensure the presence of adults who can identify young people at risk for mental health problems (e.g. challenges, psychological distress, suicidal ideation).

Offer social and emotional support adapted to the needs of young people.
Support young people throughout their schooling, in their academic and career guidance and in their search for solutions to challenges they face.
Provide opportunities for students to share their experiences and express their emotions.
Ensure that each student is personally known to at least one adult in the school, in the various contexts of school and extracurricular life. For example, match each group of students with an adult or offer a program in which students are paired with a teacher able to provide support and guidance.
Provide confidential access to support services in challenging situations (e.g. helpline, email address, internal mailbox).
Provide space and time to ensure confidentiality.
Implement ways to integrate immigrant or refugee students into their new school.
Provide support and guidance measures for students with difficulties in developing their social skills (e.g. support from a psychoeducator).

Reduce economic inequalities while preserving dignity.
Loan school equipment and materials at little to no cost to encourage participation in sports and cultural activities.
Provide healthy snacks or meals to young people who need them.
Organize fundraising activities to reduce the participation costs.
