Confidential process

The YPA protects the act of making a report. No one may disclose or be compelled to disclose the identity of a person who has reported a situation. Anyone who chooses to identify themselves can be certain that their identity will not be disclosed without their consent.

The YPA also stipulates that no legal action can be taken against a person who has provided information in good faith during a report or who has assisted a child in making a report.

The DYP will inform you of their decision to either retain or not the report for a more in-depth evaluation of the child's situation.
