Training for the school network on bullying and violence
The Empowering Adults Working With Students to Take Action in Matters Involving Bullying and Violence, Including Sexual Violence training program is designed to support the school network in its training obligations as introduced by the Act respecting the National Student Ombudsman, which amended the Education Act (ss. 75.1 and 215) and the Act respecting private education (ss. 63.1 and 65.2). This training course is supported by evidence-based research and best practices.
Clientele
The training course is intended for any adult who works with students in elementary or secondary educational institutions, or in vocational training or adult general education centres.
Objective
Its objective is to develop the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and intervene appropriately in situations of bullying and violence, including sexual violence.
Description
The training course lasts 120 minutes. It comprises eight units, each of which helps to achieve a specific objective that is a prerequisite for the next unit. The training course can be accessed at any time and can be completed in segments. At the end of each unit, you will have access to a downloadable certificate.
Introduction
1 – Distinguishing between various manifestations and forms of violence
2 – The effects of violence on young people
3 – The obligations of school staff in matters involving violence
4 – The school staff’s role, responsibilities, and power to take action
5 – Best practices to prevent bullying and violence
6 – Intervening in situations of violence
7 – Follow-up on interventions
Additional training units are currently being prepared. These will delve deeper into certain themes and address the realities experienced by populations at greater risk of violence.
