The Fonds d'initiatives nordiques is a financial assistance program that aims to respond in real time to priority needs of Northern Quebec communities. Since its inception, many projects from all regions of Quebec's northern territory have been selected for financial support. Here is the list of projects submitted before November 25, 2025, that were selected in winter 2026.
Côte-Nord
- Les Norkôtières cooperative in Sept-Îles will create a new range of outdoor activities for newcomer women, teenage girls and women from isolated, Indigenous and Anglophone communities. ($100,000)
- The Centre d’intervention le Rond-Point in Sept-Îles will operate a warming shelter, in support of existing services, for people experiencing homelessness so that they can sleep in a warm place from November to May. ($97,772)
- Dépannage de l’Anse will implement a pilot project for textile recovery and processing across all municipalities in the Manicouagan RCM. ($91,686)
- Jardin du ruisseau Bois-Joli will redevelop part of its trails in the Jardin de Grand-Mère to ensure the safety of families in the Ferland sector of Sept-Îles and the long-term sustainability of the infrastructure. ($44,315)
- Ville de Port-Cartier will conduct a preliminary engineering study to identify the repairs and upgrades required for the municipal wharf and the breakwater that serves as the wharf access road. ($100,000)
- Construction & Expertise PG will establish a daycare centre in Sept-Îles for its workers and the community. ($247,986)
- The Corporation de gestion du port de Baie-Comeau will strengthen its community presence, range of activities and communications strategies to position itself as a recreation and tourism destination and to increase its economic impact in the region. ($100,000)
- The Organisme de bassins versants Duplessis aims to characterize wetlands and riparian buffer strips to determine their conservation value. ($100,000)
- The Cégep de Baie-Comeau will create an e-learning program on the valorization and harvesting of non-timber forest products to raise awareness, educate and train workers from Côte-Nord communities. ($100,000)
- The Association des côtiers de la Basse-Côte-Nord Inc. will analyze the specific support and financing needs of businesses in the sector. ($70,000)
- Municipalité de Chute-aux-Outardes will optimize its sociocultural hall by adding a kitchen, adapting the space for events and developing services for snowmobilers. ($87,354)
- Musée régional de la Côte-Nord will offer multilingual audio guides and create school educational programs to enhance the visitor experience and increase attendance. ($100,000)
- The organization Grimper la Côte will establish a climbing centre for residents of the Manicouagan RCM. ($100,000)
- Réussite Accomplissement Persévérance (RAP) Côte-Nord will conduct a pilot project to help employers adopt practices that support student employees in obtaining a diploma or qualification. ($100,000)
- To mark its 70th anniversary, Ville de Schefferville created a virtual exhibition on its region’s history. ($35,000)
- Municipalité de Rivière-au-Tonnerre will build a boardwalk providing access to its beach. ($379,305)
- Municipalité de Bonne-Espérance will acquire equipment for its fire department. ($32,423)
- The Environnement Côte-Nord will develop a regional strategy to protect northern biodiversity, support sustainable development and build resilience to climate change. The project will also strengthen the Réseau des Alliés de la biodiversité in the Côte‑Nord region. ($70,228)
- Ferme du Rigolet will conduct a study to assess the feasibility of constructing a multipurpose building that meets the farm’s operational needs and supports its commercial development. ($95,260)
- The Corporation de protection de l’environnement de Sept-Îles will implement a conservation plan for natural areas in the Sept-Îles region. ($77,288)
- Municipalité de Blanc-Sablon will develop a comprehensive natural infrastructure plan between Blanc-Sablon and Vieux-Fort to support ecotourism. ($71,106)
- The Société du port ferroviaire de Baie-Comeau (SOPOR) will assess market potential in response to a possible increase in freight traffic and determine the profitability of the facilities required to meet demand. ($28,883)
- Repère Manicouagan in Baie-Comeau will renovate the Pavillon Marie-Guyard to enable the development of new services, including a pilot project to support families. ($77,615)
- The Société d’histoire et d’archéologie de Mashteuiatsh will create an immersive digital experience focused on the territory of the Domaine-du-Roy RCM and the history of the fur trade. ($100,000)
- The Centre d’action bénévole de la MRC Manicouagan will purchase an industrial modular kitchen for its meals-on-wheels service. ($500,000)
- The Institut technologique de maintenance industrielle (ITMI) at the Cégep de Sept-Îles will develop a conversational agent to help maintenance technicians resolve industrial equipment breakdowns. ($100,000)
- Villa Port-Cartier will build 12 new rooms and a new lounge to meet the growing demand from its clientele of seniors with loss of autonomy. The existing dining room and lounge will also be refurbished. ($375,000)
- Municipalité de Gros-Mécatina will install a refrigerated ice system at the arena and an elevator to access the community hall. ($425,034)
- Innovation et développement (ID) Manicouagan will hire a tourism development officer responsible for developing the peripheral municipalities of the Manicouagan RCM. ($100,000)
- The Conseil des Innus de Pessamit will undertake the preliminary steps to develop a new tourism offering at the Papinachois site. ($44,194)
- The Conseil des Innus de Pessamit will engage engineering, architecture and interior design services to prepare for the construction of a cultural centre and an outdoor cultural gathering site. ($100,000)
- The Maison des organismes communautaires de Sept-Îles (MOCSI) will upgrade its heating and ventilation systems. ($412,375)
- The Council of the Innu Nation of Matimekush–Lac-John will assess the work required on a vacant building on the grounds of the Kanatamat School to rehabilitate it. The project aims to offer new services to the public. ($80,325)
- CPE Le Mur-mûr Inc. in Fermont will welcome a project manager to coordinate the fit-out of its new facilities. ($94,040)
- The Innu Takuaikan Uashat mak Mani-Utenam Council will create and broadcast audio clips to identify the community’s heritage and cultural assets, offering an immersive audio experience. ($100,000)
- Municipalité du village de Godbout will renovate the bridge over the Petite rivière Godbout to promote development in the area and improve access for residents and visitors. ($100,000)
- Municipalité du village de Godbout will upgrade and secure the boat launch that provides access for residents and visitors to the St. Lawrence River. ($100,000)
Nord-du-Québec
- The community of Valcanton will create a splash pad and an intergenerational gathering place in the heart of the village of Val-Paradis. ($100,000)
- Eeyou Istchee Tourism will develop a tourism master plan for the nine Cree communities of Eeyou Istchee. ($98,316)
- FaunENord will organize educational activities related to northern market gardening and crop processing in the heart of the town of Chibougamau. ($98,266)
- The Société d’aide au développement des collectivités (SADC) in Matagami will conduct three feasibility studies on converting buildings in Matagami, Villebois and Valcanton from oil to forest biomass heating. ($68,647)
- The Association des personnes en perte d’autonomie de Chibougamau will conduct a market study on the housing and food service needs of its clientele. ($100,000)
- The Centre d’études collégiales de Chibougamau will establish a responsible, cooperative student café offering food services to students and employees. ($80,000)
- The Regroupement des propriétaires de chalets du Lac Pajegasque in Beaucanton will build walking trails, lookouts and a boat wash station to protect the lake and promote access by residents and visitors. ($12,587)
- Ville de Lebel-sur-Quévillon will modernize its municipal campground comfort station. ($100,000)
- The Service aux entreprises et aux collectivités at the Cégep de Saint-Félicien in Chibougamau will provide daycare services for the children of students and staff. ($88,360)
- The Nemaska Cree Nation will transform its former fire station into a community hall. ($500,000)
- The Centre de femmes Îlot d’Espoir in Lebel-sur-Quévillon will renovate and expand its premises to improve its services, including collective cooking workshops. ($172,000)
- The Société d’histoire de la Baie-James will establish access points to regional history resources in the six Jamesian communities. ($65,410)
- Ville de Chibougamau will acquire management and dispatching software to implement a new public transit service in Chibougamau. ($64,900)
- The Isuarsivik Regional Recovery Centre will establish a therapy camp with two counselling rooms near Kuujjuaq, bringing clients closer to their territory and culture and facilitating their recovery process. ($100,000)
- The Aaqsiiq theatre will produce the play Aukkauti, based on a historical tale rooted in the history of Nunavik. ($100,000)
- The Iqitsivik Salluit Family House will build a skateboard park to diversify the range of activities for youth in the northern village. ($150,000)
- The Iqitsivik Salluit Family House will build two camps where traditional Inuit knowledge can be taught to youth in the community during summer camps. ($100,000)
- The Ikajurtigiit Solidarity Coop will conduct an action-research project to document individual trajectories and collective stories related to the employment experience of cooperative members. ($100,000)
- Kuujjuamiut Inc. will build a welding garage in Kuujjuaq to provide essential boat welding, repair and modification services. ($99,250)
- Makivvik Corporation will conduct preliminary studies for the construction of new offices in Kuujjuaq and Inukjuak. ($100,000)
- McGill University will translate the public health officer’s tuberculosis manual into Inuktitut to enable Nunavik health workers to respond more effectively, in their own language, when members are affected by this infectious disease. ($100,000)
- Through the Institut nordique du Québec, the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières will hold a symposium in Nunavik to disseminate scientific knowledge on health, climate and the environment that affect northern communities. ($100,000)
Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean
- Municipalité de Girardville will build a pumptrack and skateboard modules in a multi-generational urban park in the heart of town. ($100,000)
- Parc régional des Grandes-Rivières du lac Saint-Jean will improve access to the park by building serviced parking lots and installing new signage and maps. ($87,150)
- Retraite en Or Inc., a semi-autonomous seniors’ residence in Girardville, will renovate washrooms to improve comfort, accessibility and safety. ($100,000)
- Municipalité de Notre-Dame-de-Lorette will conduct a feasibility study and preliminary development plans for a lodging concept near the Chalet du 49e. ($100,000)
Interregional Northern Territories
- The regional organization FaunENord will use a new method to assess the cosmetic and pharmaceutical potential of wild mushrooms in Nord-du-Québec between the 49th and 55th parallels. ($100,000)
- The Société de développement économique Ilnu will coordinate the preparation of plans and specifications for the construction of a building in Mashteuiatsh. The new facility will be used to develop a business incubator for First Nations. ($100,000)
