When submitting your application, you must demonstrate that you have:
The income required to support your family;
The additional amount required to support the person you are sponsoring, their accompanying family members and their non-accompanying family members;
If you have an commitment that has already been accepted and is still in force, the amount required to provide for the people covered by the current commitment.
The income and amounts required are set by regulation and are adjusted each year on January 1. They vary according to the number of dependants.
The tables below show the amounts applicable from January 1 to December 31, 2026.
To find out how much money you need, add together the income you need to support your family (Table A), the amount you need to support the people you are sponsoring (Table B) and, if applicable, the amount you need to support anyone you are already sponsoring (Table B).
An electronic calculator is available to help you make this calculation. Please note, however, that this is provided for information purposes only and does not replace the requirements described on this page.
